About

Feronia is in the business of agriculture. We have a passion to grow our crops, our livestock, our people, our company, our shareholder value and the communities within which we operate without degrading the natural environment.

Feronia is the owner and operator of global agricultural assets in Africa focused on the business management of:

Background

Founded in 2008, Feronia is engaged in acquiring and consolidating farm land and operations in Africa and bringing them back into production using modern agricultural techniques and practices. Agricultural production from our plantations and facilities will contribute to local food supply in regions where the agriculture sector has fallen into decline due to years of turmoil while proceeds from production earmarked for export will contribute to the national economies of the countries in which we operate.

The agricultural sector in much of Africa is typified by subsistence farming by families using traditional farming methods and food shortages are chronic. Yet much of Central Africa in particular has availability of arable land, temperate climate and access to freshwater to support a more organized and productive agricultural sector. Large scale plantations that previously grew cash crops have fallen into disrepair and become unproductive. Feronia is actively pursuing the acquisition of large scale parcels of agricultural land with pre-existing crop production and processing facilities that are viewed to have significant appreciation potential once updated and brought back on line. The easing of political turmoil and unrest in the region has set the stage for improved economic growth prospects while the strong global outlook for agricultural producers has created a unique opportunity for Feronia, its investors and the communities within which it operates.

Vision Statement

To be the largest agricultural company in Africa, operating on a world class level, delivering excellent sustained benefits to shareholders, management and employees, whilst contributing to economic and social development without degradation of the natural environment.

Operations

Feronia's operations will initially be focused on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Africa and Uganda.

The DRC is situated in Central Africa, straddling the equator with a narrow land corridor to the Atlantic ocean. War and unrest throughout the 1990s resulted in massive economic deterioration with rural communities particularly vulnerable. The decline of the agricultural sector led to food shortages due to a severe fall in productivity while the production of cash crops came to a near halt. Nevertheless, agriculture reamins the key economic sector in the DRC, employing 70% of the population and contributing almost half of the GDP and 17% of export earnings. Feronia has identified plantations and farming facilities in the DRC that it intends to bring back into production through the use of modern machinery and farming techniques.

Future Growth

Feronia is currently reviewing land acquisition opportunities in a number of countries in Africa. It is our intention to bring fallow land back into production through investments in modern machinery and equipment and training of local workers in modern farming techniques.
